Apple Security Update and Vulnerability

*IMPORTANT INFORMATION*

Today, Apple issued an emergency software upgrade for a vulnerability in its products after cybersecurity researchers found a flaw that allows spyware from Israel’s NSO Group to infect anyone’s iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, or Mac computer without so much as a tap.

The security team at Apple discovered this threat last Tuesday and worked overtime to fix this critical issue.

The spyware is called Pegasus and works by invisibly infecting Apple devices without consumers knowing. This type of technology is considered the Holy Grail of surveillance because it allows any organization to tap into a victim’s device without them ever knowing it.

It has been uncovered that the technology could have been active since March, which means a total of 1.65 billion devices have been vulnerable to this spyware until now.

Thankfully, Apple has released this new update. This goes to show that any company – big or small – can be hit with this type of security vulnerability. Businesses need to be proactive in regularly checking their networks, training their employees, and using best practices for cybersecurity.
